The Name "Mill Creek" ...
In days gone by, 'the mill' was a place where the people of the community took their grain to be processed and refined. The wheel, propelled by the force of the rushing water, generated enough power to grind all of the imperfections and unnecessary debris from the raw, unprocessed grain. The result was a final product with a valuable and necessary purpose.
In much the same way, Mill Creek Church is a place where God processes and refines each of us. God wants us to live an abundant life and as we cooperate with the flow of God in our lives His power is released, so we can live the life that God wants us to live.
Jesus said 'I came so that you can have real and eternal life, better then you ever dreamed of.' John 10:10
The area where we are located has the name of both 'Mill' and 'Creek' in streets and sub-divisions. It is the northeast area of Modesto where we know God has called us to.
What is a "Foursquare" Church?
Mill Creek Church is an interdenominational fellowship associated with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel.
No, foursquare is not a church based on a children's game involving red rubber balls! It was founded and named in the early part of the twentieth century when 'foursquare was used as a contractor's term. It meant solid, sound, viable and secure. It was based on the idea that if all four sides of the foundation are level and solid then the building will be strong.
The four sides of the foundation of the Foursquare Church each represent a different attribute of Jesus:
- Jesus as Savior (Romans 10:9)
- Jesus as Healer (1 Peter 2:24)
- Jesus as Baptizer (Luke 3:16)
- Jesus as Coming King (Acts 1:11)
Jesus is the intentional focus of our Church because that makes us at Mill Creek Church solid, strong, and secure.
